The best method of which I am aware for remote viewing very closely resembles the Shikantaza method articulated by Dogen in the Soto Zen tradition.
- Make sure that there are no significant internal or external distractions: ensure that you are not excessively hungry, that there are no consistently loud noises or visual distractions around you.
- Repeat the blind target (coordinates, arbitrary string of numerals, etc.) once aloud to yourself.
- Stare into space with eyes open and completely clear your mind of all conscious, ruminative or discursive content. No conscious thought. However, during this time, you should anticipate receiving a mental image (sometimes including sensory content) of the contents of the relevant target.
